Cache is one of the most popular maps in Counter-Strike, and not just because of the life-affirming way the sun kisses all that corrugated metal. It’s also because this map is incredibly well balanced, full of interesting angles and tactical possibilities that make for outstanding action. It’s also home to all sorts of great wallbang spots, so here’s a look at a few of our favorites.
Garage to Middle
Break out your AWP, walk into Garage and head over to the left side while remaining at the back of the building. Ensure you are facing towards Mid. On the floor you should see “04” painted in yellow along with some black and yellow tape. On the right of the tape you’ll see a thick grey line leading towards the grey shutter ahead of you.
Line up your crosshair on the right of the thick grey line and walk until you’re standing next to the crates on the left and the junk on the floor on the right. Scope in on the grey shutter ahead and focus on the white mark halfway along and about two thirds of the way up. Move your crosshair so it’s positioned just above the horizontal line running along the top of the white mark. Now drag your crosshair to the right so it’s in line with fourth stud from the left on the blue section above the grey shutter. Shooting here will take out the CT watching Mid from Connector/Middle.
Of course, if you’re as good as G2’s bodyy you can just hop up on the containers by T-spawn and hit this beauty for the same effect:
Middle to Heaven
Push into Middle (commonly referred to as Connector) and turn right. Stop before you reach the ramp and stand with your back to the wall. You should see a paint can on the floor opposite. Stand roughly halfway along the wall and focus on the wall opposite. Notice two roughly painted rectangles ahead. Place your crosshair just below the top-right corner of the left rectangle and spray this area to take out the CT guarding Bombsite B from Heaven. You should rack up over 100 damage with six hits, but exact damage varies.
Squeaky through Door
Head to Long A and walk until you reach Squeaky. You can shoot through the door at any point, but for the best angle you should continue walking until you are past the second archway in the corridor. You will be relatively close to the door now. Use short, controlled sprays through the door to take out the CT waiting on Bombsite A.
Do be wary of a CT pushing through the door, though, as this could happen if they are particularly impatient. Also be aware of any CTs lurking around quad with an AWP, because they’ll be able to shoot through the wall at you. If you land some AK shots here, five or six ought to be enough to kill someone.
Long A to Truck
Walk towards Long A and enter the building. There should be a box on the right. Walk to the left of the box so you’re standing between the box and the wall, then spin around to face the grey shutter on the opposite wall. Look at the bricks on the left side of the shutter and count three up. On the grey shutter, move your crosshair down one slot. Now concentrate on the bricks above the shutter and count one in from the right. At the bottom of the crack between the two bricks you’ll notice some notches in the wall. Drag your crosshair so that it’s in line with the right edge of the notches and still resting on the horizontal line on the shutter.
Shooting here will enable you to safely take out the CT waiting by Truck, although it will take a couple of hits with the AWP to do fatal damage. This will make it a lot easier for your team to push onto Bombsite A.
Garage to White Box (Part 1)
There are two ways you can achieve this wallbang from Garage to White Box, both using the mighty AWP. For the first, enter Garage and walk over to the doorway that leads to Long Hall, on the left. While still facing Middle, move into the doorway, hold the walk button and walk until the white wall in front of you is just out of sight.
Now turn your attention to the grey shutter ahead. Scope in on the top portion of the shutter and you’ll see a white mark on one of the slots. Move your crosshair so that it rests just under the horizontal line above the white mark. Now look at the grimy vertical lines on the shutter, slightly below the mark. To the right of the white mark is a clear space between two clusters of grimy vertical lines. Line up your crosshair in the middle of this space and shoot. If you hit someone, you can kill them in two hits.
Garage to White Box (Part 2)
Alternatively, you can achieve the same wallbang from a different spot, closer to the back of Garage. This wallbang is used by a number of professional Counter-Strike players, including s1mple, who once landed the shot against tarik on stream.
Enter Garage once more and walk over to the crates leaning up against the left wall. Jump on top of the crates, walk along and then jump onto the box at the back of Garage. Turn your attention to the doorway that leads to Mid. Focus on the top, left-hand side of the doorway and position your crosshair between the second and third bolt from the right on the dark piece of corrugated metal. Shoot at around bolt-height to take out the CT that will have just jumped up onto White Box. Again, two body shots ought to do it.
B Main to Vent
Many Terrorists use Vent to gain quick access to Bombsite B after gaining control of Mid, but facing Vent head-on from inside Storage Room can be risky. Fortunately, you can spray into Vent from the side and underneath. Stand just outside Bombsite B, facing the Vent and send out a few short, controlled sprays. This will kill an injured Terrorist quite quickly or could force them back out into Mid where another one of your team-mates can finish them off.
Middle to Garage
You’ll want an AWP for this one. Head to Middle/Connector and peak out of the door. Scope in and focus on the small portion of the grey shutter opposite you. Count three bricks up and rest your crosshair on the shutter around halfway down the third brick. Shoot a few times with the AWP at the beginning of the round to take out any of the Terrorists who have moved into Garage.
Entrance to Storage Room
Break out your M4, walk along to Entrance and move forward until you’re standing at the base of the ramp that leads up to Heaven. Focus on the grey shutter ahead of you. Once you hear a T enter Storage Room, begin spraying through the wall. The closer you stand to the grey shutter, the more damage you’ll do, so make sure that you stand reasonably close and try to control your spray as you fire.
Quad to Squeaky
Make your way to Quad and stand with the back fence on your left and the containers on your right, facing the wall with the fan on the outside. You’ll notice small studs running along the wall. Count three studs in from the left and aim slightly below the third stud to land a body shot on the Terrorist pushing through to Squeaky.
Tree Room to Long Halll
Sometimes the best way to guard Bombsite B is from the outside. At the beginning of the round, rush to Tree Room and stand on the left side of the doorway that leads to B. Take a step to the right and focus on the grey bricks opposite. Count one brick up and one brick in, resting your crosshair on the vertical line of cement between the two bricks. If you suspect Ts will be pushing towards Bombsite B this round, continue shooting to potentially take out multiple enemies at once as they enter Long Hall and walk around to the doorway. The SCAR-20 does over 100 damage in four hits, if you’re curious.
CT Start to Mid
Step just out of CT Start and face Middle. The entire wall in front of you can be shot through. Position yourself roughly in the middle of wall and scope in. It will be very difficult for you to know exactly where the Terrorists are as they push across Mid. However, a good place to begin shooting is just above the pile of junk on the floor on the left side of the wall.
Heaven to Middle
This shot is very situational but if you’re lucky enough to land it, your team-mates will be incredibly impressed. It’s also worth mentioning that this shot will only really work if your opponent has low health. Position yourself on the ramp to Heaven and shoot through the wall to take out any Terrorists that try to sneak in. There’s no way to line up this shot perfectly so you’ll have to make a good guess just by listening.
